When can I visit?
Guided Tours are available on Wednesdays, Fridays and select Saturdays. Click here to reserve your free tour of all three floors! We hope that you will also plan to join us for special events and programs, many of which include opportunities to view the first and second floors of the historic house. Where can I park?
Street parking is available on Main Avenue between 5th and 6th Streets in front of the Carriage House Visitors Center. Additional parking is available in the Lutcher Theater parking lot (enter on the 5th Street side across from the Orange Public Library). Parking is free!
Where do I enter?
Please enter through the Carriage House entrance at 610 Main Avenue.
Is there an admissions fee?
No, admission is free.
Can I bring bags inside?
Sorry, no bags are allowed inside the House. Complimentary lockers are available for your use inside the Carriage House.
Are any objects inside the House interactive?
Please enjoy with your eyes and not your hands. Historical objects are fragile, so please keep a safe distance.
What is your photo policy?
To protect the historical objects and artwork, photography is allowed without a flash, unless otherwise indicated. Selfie sticks, mono-pods or tripods are not permitted.
What are your accessibility accommodations?
There is no elevator or ramp access due to the historical architecture of the home. The front door of The W.H. Stark House is accessed by climbing 6 steps up to the front porch. The second and third floors of the home may only be accessed by using the building’s original staircase, which requires ascending 22 steps to the second floor and 21 steps to the third. Modern chairs are available on the second and third floors for visitor use as needed.
Are children allowed inside the House?
Guided Tours are designed for guests ages eight and older. Guests with children younger than eight are encouraged to visit during Open House events and children's programs offered throughout the year.
Can I bring food inside?
No, please no food or drink inside the House.
Is there a designated smoking area?
No, The W.H. Stark House is a smoke, tobacco and vape-free environment, indoors and outdoors. There are no designated smoking, vaping or tobacco-use areas on the property.
Can I bring a pet?
Sorry, no pets are allowed. Service animals may accompany visitors with disabilities.
What is your firearm policy?
As an educational institution with numerous school and educational groups and activities, weapons are prohibited on the property. Additionally, pursuant to Texas Penal Code Sections 30.05, 30.06 and 30.07, we have posted legal signage notifying the public that we do not permit concealed or openly carried handguns in our facility.
