Mortlake Tapestry

    Mortlake Tapestry

This finely-woven wool tapestry is an exquisite example of a pre-Restoration to Restoration-era English design. This tapestry is one of the more antique decorative objects in The W.H. Stark House and was woven in England’s legendary Mortlake factory, founded in 1619 by King James I and his son, Prince Charles. It features a sylvan scene of a hunter, hounds, and shepherdess surrounded by a rich, wine-colored border.
