Give guided tours of The W.H. Stark House to visitors

Job description

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Present guided tours of W.H. Stark House to visitors
  • Available for special event tours
  • Attend periodic training sessions and meetings
  • Other duties may be requested

Expectations:

  1. Work functions are performed to create the highest quality historical home.
  2. Provide friendly, professional, timely and accurate service and support to all visitors and co-workers.
  3. Have extensive and accurate knowledge of The W.H. Stark House, the collection and the family history.
  4. Work at least four half-days (four hour shift) per month, including one four-hour Saturday as schedule permits.
  5. Required attendance at bi-monthly Guide Meeting. Available to work special Stark House sponsored special events on as-needed basis.
  6. Support Foundation’s goals and values; display passion and optimism.
  7. Give and welcome feedback; contribute to building a positive team spirit.
  8. Follow policies and procedures.
  9. Follow safe work procedures and report potentially unsafe conditions.
  10. Show up on time and ready to work scheduled hours.

Experience:

Training is provided; however, teaching experience is helpful.

Interpersonal Skills:

Position requires professional, personal interaction with visitors. The guide must be able to verbally communicate with up to six visitors at a time. Must be able to tell the story of the house and family in a way that interests visitors.

Other Skills:

Interest in history, decorative arts and the fine arts a plus. Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to climb stairs. The employee is required to walk, gesture, talk and hear. Work Environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee will normally work in a climate controlled environment. Noise levels are generally quiet.
